🚀 Getting Started
Get your AI assistant running in under 30 minutes.
Prerequisites
- Node.js 18+ — Download here
- A computer — Mac, Windows, or Linux
- An AI API key — From Anthropic (recommended) or OpenAI
Installation
Step 1: Install Clawdbot
npm install -g clawdbot@latest
Step 2: Run the Setup Wizard
clawdbot onboard
The wizard will guide you through:
- Setting up your AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI)
- Connecting a messaging channel (Telegram recommended for beginners)
- Creating your agent's personality
Step 3: Start the Gateway
clawdbot gateway start
Step 4: Chat with Your Assistant
Open your configured messaging app (Telegram, WhatsApp, etc.) and send a message to your bot. It should respond!
Next Steps
- Configure your agent — Customize personality, skills, and settings
- Add more channels — Connect WhatsApp, Discord, iMessage
- Install skills — Add email, calendar, and web capabilities
